A leading global professional body is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee financial operations for its Southern Africa division, based in Centurion. This permanent position offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of an organisation dedicated to advancing procurement and supply excellence worldwide. You will be at the heart of a supportive, knowledgeable team, collaborating with colleagues across continents while ensuring robust financial process.

As Finance Manager you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of financial stewardship for the Southern Africa division. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include guiding a small but dedicated team towards achieving organisational goals through effective training and motivation. You will manage core operational finance functions such as ledgers, payrolls, expense claims processing, supplier payments, credit control measures as well as ensuring up-to-date accounting records. Regularly preparing detailed management accounts and performance reports will keep leadership informed about the region’s financial health. You will also coordinate budgeting cycles and forecasting exercises while contracting external partners for specialist services like tax or audit support. Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations—ranging from tax submissions to payroll filings—will be central to your remit. You’ll maintain close relationships with local banks to safeguard assets while supporting cash flow stability. By identifying process improvements in collaboration with global colleagues you’ll help raise reporting standards across regions. Your analytical skills will enable you to spot trends or risks early on so that senior managers can make well-informed decisions. Participation in strategic projects such as new system roll outs will further broaden your impact within this highly respected organisation.

  • Guide and develop the local finance team by fostering motivation, providing training opportunities, and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and business plans.
  • Oversee all operational finance functions for Southern Africa including sales and purchase ledger activities, credit control, cash management, supplier payments, payroll processing, expense claims administration, and maintaining accurate accounting systems.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial reports such as management accounts, KPI reports, balance sheet reconciliations, revenue reconciliations, debtor/creditor reports, cash flow statements, and other key information for regional leadership and global headquarters.
  • Coordinate the production of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for inclusion in group consolidated schedules while continuously updating management on departmental spend against approved budgets.
  • Contract external services for tax preparation, auditing, banking relationships, investments, and other financial needs in line with group requirements and approval levels.
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for annual financial audits; coordinate on-site audit activities to ensure efficient processes that meet external auditor requirements.
  • Manage all statutory registrations and returns including Financial Statements submissions, Tax filings (VAT & Income), Payroll-related filings; maintain full compliance with evolving local regulations.
  • Monitor company bank accounts ensuring timely reconciliations; liaise with banks regarding authority maintenance and access rights while managing cash flow within approved budgets.
  • Identify areas for improvement in financial controls and reporting standards locally and across the group; contribute insights into projects such as new system implementations (e.g., Oracle finance/procurement).
  • Support risk management by tracking financial status/performance metrics to identify risks/opportunities; provide insightful analysis to inform short- and long-term decision-making.

Your background as a Finance Manager should reflect significant experience in managing end-to-end finance operations within a regulated environment—ideally spanning both local compliance demands and international reporting standards. You will bring not only technical expertise but also emotional intelligence: your ability to nurture talent within your team ensures high morale while delivering results aligned with organisational values. Your familiarity with South African tax laws/statutory obligations means you can confidently handle everything from VAT submissions to payroll filings without missing deadlines or risking non-compliance. Advanced proficiency using modern accounting platforms (with preference given to Oracle users) allows you to streamline processes efficiently. Your analytical mindset enables you to interpret complex data sets into actionable insights for senior stakeholders—supporting both tactical responses and long-term planning. Experience coordinating audits/external reviews demonstrates your commitment to transparency/governance best practice. Above all else your collaborative approach fosters trust among colleagues at every level—from direct reports through regional leaders up to global partners—ensuring seamless integration of local efforts into broader group objectives.

  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in accounting or general business; advanced accounting knowledge is essential along with relevant professional certification.
  • Demonstrate recent hands-on experience preparing/submitting tax information to SARS (especially VAT & Income Tax) within South Africa’s regulatory framework.
  • Showcase strong IT literacy including proficiency with accounting software (preferably Oracle) alongside advanced Excel skills for data analysis/reporting purposes.
  • Bring proven experience producing management/financial accounts within a complex organisational structure—ideally gained in an international or multi-entity context.
  • Display sound business planning/organisational abilities enabling you to coordinate budgeting cycles/forecasts efficiently while supporting strategic objectives.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of legislative requirements affecting finance operations including statutory registrations/returns (Tax/VAT/Payroll) under South African law.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills allowing you to collaborate effectively across teams/cultures while nurturing staff development locally.
  • Evidence strong business acumen coupled with sensitivity towards risk identification/mitigation strategies relevant to both local operations/group-wide initiatives.
  • Demonstrate adaptability when working occasional unsocial hours required by global coordination without compromising work-life balance or output quality.
