Manager, Equity Mobilisation & Investor Relations

The role is to help the Bank to achieve its mission of stimulating a consistent expansion of, and diversification of African trade so as to rapidly increase Africa’s share of global trade, while operating as a first class, profit oriented, socially responsible financial institution and a centre of excellence in African trade matters. This will be by ensuring that the Bank engages with the right kinds of investors for purposes of capital accumulation required to drive its mandate.

Minimum Requirements and Qualification:

  • Candidates should hold an MBA in either Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or other disciplines relevant to the position from a reputable university
  • Up to 8 years of relevant experience
  • However, candidates without an MBA degree but with at least 8 years of relevant corporate finance/investment banking experience in an international commercial environment may also apply

  • Prior experience should include knowledge of finance, investment banking, equity capital markets, and business origination / equity sales.
  • Experience as a financial analyst, industry analyst or similar work in finance is an added advantage.
  • Proven track record of managing relationship and interacting with senior officials of banks, African institutions, African governments.
  • Ability to attract relevant shareholders that are fit for purpose and meet financial targets
  • Demonstrable experience of strategic communication, investor relations, marketing, and the media
  • Strong interpersonal skills, superior intellect, and an outstanding ability to communicate
  • Demonstrable problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical skills; strategic and creative thinking
  • History of effective multi-tasking, expectation setting and escalation of issues where appropriate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of the Bank's other working languages is an added advantage (French, Arabic and Portuguese)

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the development of the Bank’s strategy in the area of raising equity capital and manage relationship with new and existing shareholders of the Bank on an ongoing basis with a long-term perspective
  • Pitch to targets about equity investment opportunities in the Bank and increase their level of commitment to the Bank’s equity pool
  • Analyze Afreximbank’s shareholder base and identify underweight or non-investors with whom Afreximbank ought to meet/develop a relationship
  • Analyze Afreximbank’s shareholder base and identify stakeholders with whom Afreximbank ought to meet/develop a relationship
  • Work with team to achieve financial equity raising targets advised from time to time and required to support balance sheet growth
  • Develop management presentations and pitch documents for engaging targets for equity mobilisation purposes.
  • Manage and coordinate equity “road shows”, investor engagement events both domestically and internationally, both on-site and off-site
  • Develop and maintain systems that provide control of investor and shareholder interactions and improve the marketability of organization's financial instruments
  • Provide support for any “go to the market” initiatives the Bank may choose to use for purposes of raising additional equity for the Bank to ensure full subscription; and
  • Provide regular feedback to management and other stakeholders on investors and shareholders’ perceptions of the Bank, concerns, and investment criteria
  • Coordinate financial oversight on due diligence activities in relation to equity mobilisation transactions
  • Work with strategy, finance and relevant departments to structure equity raising deals and other transaction related matters

Compliance Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to the Bank's AML, Regulatory and Conduct Compliance policies and procedures, notably.
  • Staff Handbook (has code of conduct provisions)
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism and Counter Proliferation Financing
  • Conflicts of Interest and Policies on Staff Involvement in External Engagements/Activities
  • Anti-Bribery & Corruption
  • Insider Trading Guidelines
  • Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities or matters relating to the Bank’s staff or the customers to the Compliance Department.
  • Complete the Annual Compliance Training/Assessment.
