The role is to help the Bank to achieve its mission of stimulating a consistent expansion of and diversification of African trade so as to rapidly increase Africa’s share of global trade, while operating as a first class, profit oriented, socially responsible financial institution and a centre of excellence in African trade matters. This will be by ensuring that the Bank engages with the right kinds of investors for purposes of capital accumulation required to drive its mandate and managing investor relations

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Investment Management
  • Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), Economics, or a related field
  • Investor Relations Certification (e.g., from the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) or equivalent) can be a valuable qualification to demonstrate specialized expertise in investor relations

Years & Nature of Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a similar role. A previous experience with an African Development Finance Institution is a plus
  • Demonstrable experience in investor relations and listing process in Africa will be an added advantage
  • Proven track record of managing relationship and interacting with senior officials of banks, African institutions, African governments and high net worth individuals
  • Demonstrable experience of strategic communication, investor relations, marketing, and the media

Main Responsibilities:

  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Act as a liaison between the Bank and current/potential investors, ensuring clear and consistent communication
    • Prepare investor presentations, annual report related sections, press releases, and other investor-related documents
    • Maintain and update investor communication materials to reflect the latest financial performance and market conditions
    • Stay updated on relevant regulations, stock exchange requirements, and legal standards that govern investor relations and equity mobilization
    • Ensure complying with stock exchange reporting requirements and adhering to best practices in corporate governance, including timely and accurate disclosure of financial information and corporate events

  • Shareholder Engagement:
    • Draw up and manage an annual program for engaging with the investment community (Results conference calls, Roadshows and conferences)
    • Address investor queries, concerns, and requests for information, ensuring they are resolved promptly
    • Collaborate with corporate communications teams to manage public relations and investor communication activities
    • Build and maintain a robust network of investors, financial analysts, and market experts

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting
    • Track and analyze the institution’s financial performance and provide insights to investors regarding financial results, strategic initiatives, and growth opportunities
    • Prepare and present regular financial updates, earnings reports, and performance dashboards to investors and stakeholders

  • Capital Raising:
    • Maintaining strong relationships with shareholders, regulators and investment community to facilitate development of a strong pipeline of good quality investors opportunities in support of the Bank`s mandate; Collaborate with senior executives and financial advisors to structure and execute capital-raising initiatives
    • Analyze market conditions and investor appetite to determine the optimal timing and approach for equity mobilization
    • Monitor market trends, financial news, and regulatory changes that may impact investors and the financial institution

  • Due Diligence and Compliance:
    • Support the due diligence process for equity raising, ensuring all necessary documentation and legal compliance requirements are met
    • Ensure that all equity mobilization activities comply with relevant financial regulations and institutional policies

  • Compliance Responsibilities
    • Understand and adhere to the Bank's AML, Regulatory and Conduct Compliance policies and procedures, notably
    • Staff Handbook (has code of conduct provisions)
    • Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism and Counter Proliferation Financing
    • Conflicts of Interest and Policies on Staff Involvement in External Engagements/Activities
    • Anti-Bribery & Corruption
    • Insider Trading Guidelines
    • Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities or matters relating to the Bank’s staff or the customers to the Compliance Department
    • Complete the Annual Compliance Training/Assessment
