An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join a dynamic and innovative organisation. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment, where you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on a wide range of issues. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the business by advising on regulatory compliance, handling disputes, and representing the company in legal proceedings. This is a part-time role.

As an In-House Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's business. Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive legal advice across all areas of the business. This includes reviewing proposed business deals, drafting contracts, advising on regulatory compliance, conducting legal research, participating in negotiations with external parties, managing outside counsel, monitoring industry developments, performing Company Secretary duties, developing corporate policies, and providing employee training. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating complex trading laws and regulations.

  • Review and analyse proposed business deals and transactions to identify legal risks and potential liabilities
  • Draft and review contracts, advise on regulatory compliance, handle disputes, and represent the company in legal proceedings
  • Advise company executives and employees on legal matters, including risk management and compliance with trading regulations
  • Conduct legal research on various issues related to trading laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Participate in meetings and negotiations with external parties, such as regulators, counterparties, and legal representatives
  • Manage, correctly choose and oversee outside counsel engaged to assist with specialised legal matters or litigation
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in the trading industry and advise the company on any necessary adjustments to its practices or policies
  • Perform Company Secretary duties ensuring the company's compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Provide training to employees on legal and compliance issues relevant to their roles in the company

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the In-House Legal Counsel role will bring a wealth of experience and a proven track record in legal counsel roles. You will have at least 10 to 15 years PQE, with board level experience and a background in financial services. Experience in a startup environment and the trading industry, particularly crypto business, hedge fund, or digital assets, is essential. Your strong compliance experience and regulatory knowledge will be key to your success in this role. Knowledge of UAE law, UAE regulators, employment law, and the crypto industry would be advantageous.
