A leading climate and sustainability-focused management consultancy are seeking a Head of Global Tax, to join their growing headcount in Cape Town.

Joining this innovative and environmentally conscious organisation, the key focus of this role is to ensure compliance with international tax laws, mitigate tax risks, and optimise the company’s global tax strategy.

As the Head of Global Tax, you will collaborate with teams, partners, and government agencies to drive operational efficiency, transparency, and integrity. Additionally, you will develop a tax control framework, address international tax issues, and contribute to M&A activities.

This position necessitates an individual who thrives in an evolving international tax landscape.

Key qualifications and experience required for the Head of Global Tax:

• CA(SA) with a specialisation in Tax (i.e., Master’s Degree in International Tax)
• 10+ years of experience in international tax, transfer pricing, and tax planning
• Strong knowledge of international tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles
• Proficiency in tax software and financial systems

Key duties of the Head of Global Tax:

• Examine international tax filings, encompassing transfer pricing, VAT/GST, and withholding tax submissions
• Ensure punctual and compliant submission of tax filings and reports
• Formulate and execute tax strategies to optimize the global tax position
• Assess R&D tax regimes in alignment with the business model and strategy
• Offer guidance on international transactions to minimize tax liabilities
• Supervise transfer pricing policies to comply with OECD regulations
• Perform benchmarking studies to maintain appropriate pricing
• Identify and mitigate potential tax risks
• Effectively manage the risks of permanent establishment for the group
• Stay ahead of changes in international tax laws
• Collaborate with auditors and tax authorities during audits and reviews
• Provide thorough documentation and support throughout the audit process
• Conduct research on international tax laws and propose tax-efficient strategies
• Stay informed about updates in international tax regulations
• Foster collaboration with finance, legal, and business teams to align tax strategies
• Educate and advise internal stakeholders on matters of international tax
• Review and provide assistance with the computation of deferred tax assets and liabilities
