Relationship Assistant Manager (Export Development)

The role focuses on driving export transactions and initiatives within Arise Industrial Parks, particularly targeting trade corridors like China and India. It involves managing programs, analysing tenant performance, and facilitating financing and credit processes

Responsibilities

  • Originate and execute export-related transactions within the Arise network of Industrial Parks
  • Develop, market and manage relevant products, initiatives and programs targeting Arise IP tenants with a view to driving export across all trade corridors, particularly China and India
  • Support the production of business development plans, covering all aspects of financing in respect of Afreximbank’s export development objectives within Arise IPs
  • Analyze operational and financial performance of IP tenants; review investment proposals, evaluate the benefits and risks of prospective deals, and drive viable transactions to financial close.
  • Build and grow customer portfolios, owning the process from origination to credit approval.
  • Design schemes and initiatives for market expansion with emphasis on matching IP tenants with buyers / off takers from Asia and other trade corridors (with Afreximbank providing financing for production)
  • Support the credit department with relevant information to facilitate the credit process and the legal department in the facilitation of transaction documentation.
  • In line with the above, liaise with the Banking Operations department to ensure that once approval is obtained, disbursement is made within the required timelines.
  • Establish ties with market players including IP tenants, prospective buyers / off takers, other Banks and Financial Institutions, commodity boards and organizations etc.
  • Understand and adhere to the Bank's AML, Regulatory and Conduct Compliance policies and procedures, notably
  • Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities or matters relating to the Bank’s staff or the customers to the Compliance Department.
  • Complete the Annual Compliance Training/Assessment.
  • Understand your customer portfolio, their business and related parties and proactively inform Compliance team of any changes as part of ongoing monitoring.
  • Obtain required Compliance and KYC documentation through effective and efficient communication with relevant internal and external parties

Requirements:

  • Post graduate degree in Business Administration, Banking or Finance from a recognized University or a professional qualification in Banking or International Trade Financ
  • Proven experience in developing and marketing trade finance products. The candidate must demonstrate experience and knowledge of designing and selling structured trade finance products
  • Strong credit analysis, documentation, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to assess customer needs and develop relevant products that meet their requirements.
  • Ability to communicate and function in a culturally diverse setting.
  • The candidate must possess a deep knowledge of both Africa’s and Asia’s trade finance landscapes (particularly China and / or India).
  • Ability to engage senior officials of banks, corporates and governments and win their confidence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of the Bank's other working languages is an added advantage
  • Willingness to travel extensively and to work long hours where required to achieve the Bank's objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including ability to organize and manage human resources to attain goals.
