A leading global organisation is seeking a dedicated Cost Accountant to join their Finance Recharges Team in Cape Town. This is an exceptional opportunity for a newly qualified CA(SA) who is passionate about accuracy, transparency, and supporting business operations through dependable financial reporting.

What you'll do:

As a Cost Accountant – People Costs, you will be entrusted with managing the end-to-end process of accounting for people-related expenses within the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Ensuring the accurate accounting of all people-related costs, including salaries, benefits, and bonuses, maintaining high standards of confidentiality at all times.
  • Preparing, processing, and reconciling monthly people cost recharges to guarantee consistency and reliability in internal financial transactions.
  • Producing regular and ad-hoc reports on people costs, providing clear insights for stakeholders across various departments.
  • Compiling comprehensive monthly reporting packs tailored for different stakeholder groups to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Partnering with Business Operations Team Heads to analyse costs and provide clear explanations that enhance understanding among non-finance colleagues.
  • Collaborating closely with the Group Finance team to ensure all reporting meets group-wide standards for accuracy and transparency.
  • Maintaining strong financial controls throughout all processes, upholding accuracy and confidentiality as core principles.
  • Supporting audit activities by preparing relevant documentation and responding promptly to queries from auditors.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within the recharges process to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and stakeholder satisfaction.

What you bring:

In this Cost Accountant position, your background should reflect solid experience in cost accounting or related fields where accuracy is paramount.

  • A recognised accounting qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or equivalent which demonstrates your technical expertise in finance.
  • Bring proven experience in cost accounting or similar roles where you have managed recharges and data reporting with precision.
  • Demonstrate advanced Excel skills including handling large datasets efficiently for complex analysis tasks.
  • Possess familiarity with Power BI or similar tools which would be beneficial for producing regular monthly dashboards and enhancing data visualisation capabilities.
  • Showcase strong analytical abilities paired with meticulous attention to detail when reviewing financial information.
  • Exhibit discretion when managing confidential information related to people costs across the organisation.
  • Communicate confidently with senior team members while explaining complex cost concepts clearly to non-finance audiences.
  • Display excellent organisational skills that enable you to manage multiple priorities effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Approach challenges methodically with a focus on finding solutions that benefit both finance teams and wider business operations.
