A respected boutique investment manager is looking for an Investment Operations Specialist to join their expanding team in Johannesburg. This is a full-time, permanent, in-office opportunity offering long-term career growth.

As the Investment Operations Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal part in supporting daily operational activities, ensuring the seamless processing, control and reporting of investment and trading activities. You will be at the heart of the organisation’s operations, acting as a vital link between front office, back office and external service providers.

Qualifications and experience required for the Investment Operations Specialist:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Finance or Investments
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Proven experience within the financial services sector, ideally with a background in asset management or fund administration
  • Existing knowledge of funds or compliance processes would be advantageous
  • A strong academic track record coupled with proven numerical ability
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is essential

Key duties of the Investment Operations Specialist:

  • Ensure accurate and timely trade entry with full reconciliation between broker confirmations and administrator records.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, brokers, administrators, and vendors to ensure smooth trade execution and reporting.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations to monitor fund performance and resolve discrepancies.
  • Verify and report daily fund data to provide stakeholders with reliable information.
  • Address fund operation inquiries by coordinating with internal teams and external providers.
  • Monitor portfolios daily to identify and resolve breaches, overdrafts, or booking errors.
  • Prepare daily cash flow reports to support portfolio management.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, brokers, and administrators through clear communication.
  • Contribute to process improvements to enhance team efficiency.
