Trade Compliance Officer
Our client based in Grand Baie, Mauritius is a leading global company specializes in importation and trade compliance, providing comprehensive door-to-door distribution services of IT equipment to over 200 international destinations. ROLE OVERVIEW
Trade Compliance is defined as “the process and procedures by which goods enter and exit a country and adhere to any laws, rules, regulations and requirements of the country from which the goods are being imported or exported. Trade compliance incorporates many different aspects of international trading, which includes classification, trade risk, taxes and import duties and country-specific import licensing and approvals.”
The Trade Compliance Specialist role consists of the following:
- You will gain expertise on:
- duties, taxes and levies
- product classification and
- licensing and permit requirements as well as product testing and certification
- Sourcing of product compliance documents as and when requested. This service requires the Trade Compliance Specialist to communicate sourcing requirements and compliance and product technicalities effectively and efficiently to external OEMs/Tech Manufacturers and internal service/shipping teams.
- Strategic problem-solving is required to manage expectations and risks identified by all stakeholders.
- Providing optimised, accurate and sound trade compliance solutions that will ensure successful and timeous shipment clearance and excellent client service.
- An appreciation and understanding of the overall underlying system data to establish data-driven decision-making to optimise workflows and increase speed and success of shipments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Excellent High School Results (Mathematics is must)
- University undergraduate degree (Ideally STEM related)
SKILL SET AND DESIRED COMPETENCIES
- Excellent command of English language
- Excellent knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Detail-oriented and able to take initiative
- Maintain effective communication with team members at all times
- Maintain relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
- Able to co-ordinate large high-value projects and keep track of and successfully manage all elements on each high value project
- Analytical, research-driven and can solve problems head-on
