Director Finance - Recharges
A prestigious global investment firm is seeking a Director of Finance Recharges to join their Cape Town office. What you'll do:
As Director of Finance Recharges you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of global finance operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
- Own and lead the global recharge framework across all funds, platforms, and cost categories by setting clear direction and ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Define and execute long-term strategies for recharges that support commercial objectives and future growth plans while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex or sensitive recharge matters, providing expert guidance to resolve issues efficiently and collaboratively.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on fund and platform recharges by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs) and expense allocation principles.
- Partner closely with Legal and Compliance teams to interpret LPA provisions accurately and ensure all recharge practices adhere to contractual requirements.
- Design, implement, and maintain governance frameworks, controls, and approval protocols that underpin effective recharge activity across the firm.
- Develop end-to-end global recharge processes that are consistent, scalable, and clearly documented to facilitate seamless adoption by international teams.
- Identify opportunities for automation and digitisation of manual processes by collaborating with Finance Systems and Technology teams to enhance efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing accuracy, transparency, timeliness, and overall effectiveness of recharge calculations and allocations.
- Prepare high-quality financial reporting for senior leadership forums including Executive Committee updates on performance metrics, risks, limitations, and mitigation plans.
What you bring:
To excel as Director of Finance Recharges you will bring extensive experience from asset management or alternative investment environments where you have managed complex fund operations
- Chartered Accountant qualification such as CA(SA), ACA, ACCA or an equivalent internationally recognised accounting credential is required for this position.
- 5-7 years post-qualification experience in fund recharges or complex finance roles within asset management, private equity or alternative investments is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in interpreting Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs) alongside deep understanding of fund expense allocation frameworks is necessary.
- Proven track record in designing, implementing and scaling finance processes within a global environment is highly desirable.
- Experience leading process transformation initiatives including automation projects involving finance systems or technology tools is advantageous.
- Strong background preparing high-quality financial reporting for senior leadership audiences including executive committees is expected.
- Ability to operate effectively within a multi-jurisdictional organisation while managing competing deadlines with excellent prioritisation skills is important.
- Exceptional people leadership capabilities demonstrated through mentoring specialist teams towards shared objectives are required.
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills with proven ability to influence at senior executive level are critical for success in this role.
- Highly analytical mindset combined with attention to detail and sound commercial judgement ensures accurate decision-making.
