Assistant Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Assistant Accountant to join a leading global asset management solutions provider based in Black River, Mauritius.

This role offers a considerable career opportunity, based in the picturesque location of Black River, Mauritius. As a key member of the finance team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the organisation's financial health. Your responsibilities will include financial data analysis, budget management, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and laws.

What you'll do:

• Daily maintenance of the books of account for the Company and its affiliated companies
• Preparation of trial balance with balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and Annual Financial Statements
• Engaging with external and internal auditors to ensure successful conclusion of audits
• Management of payments processes including preparation and dissemination of payment documents for approval
• Liaison with bankers, customers and suppliers where necessary
• Updating budgets and forecasts and comparing with actual results
• Preparation of cash flow statements and forecasts
• Responsible for statutory filings (Tax, Annual Returns etc.)

What you bring:

• Minimum BCom (or equivalent) plus articles, ACCA or similar would be advantageous
• Analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Proficiency in accounting and financial reporting: financial statements, and regulatory compliance
• Experience with financial management systems: Microsoft Office Suite, Pastel Accounting and Zero
• Commercial and financial acumen
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Problem-solving skills under pressure
• Discretion and trustworthiness: often party to confidential information
