A reputable financial institution, located in Sandton, is currently seeking a skilled Credit Manager assess and analyse credit risk in our Asset Finance client base

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating the credit risk of Asset Finance clients and structuring facilities that highlight potential risks, mitigants, security, and business drivers. Your insights will support well-considered recommendations to the Credit Committees, working closely with New Business Consultants. You will conduct thorough credit assessments for both new and existing clients and structure financial facilities to mitigate risk and support business objectives. Additionally, you will collaborate with New Business Consultants and present your findings to Credit Committees, ensuring alignment with the credit risk appetite to foster sustainable business growth.

Key qualifications for the Credit Manager:

  • Relevant finance-oriented tertiary qualification
  • Honours degree in a financial field, CIMA, and CFA – advantageous
  • 2+ years of credit management experience, preferably in Asset Finance
  • Exposure to industries such as Mining, Construction, Transportation, Fleet Rental, and Agriculture

Key duties of the Credit Manager include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collect comprehensive data from New Business Consultants and their clients to inform credit assessments
  • Conduct initial credit evaluations and structure financial facilities to highlight risks, mitigants, and security
  • Produce high-quality credit papers that detail potential risks, mitigants, and a thorough understanding of the client and their industry
  • Ensure all credit recommendations are consistent with Investec's credit risk appetite and strategic approach
  • Collaborate with the sales team to present detailed findings and credit assessments to various credit committees
  • Lead clients through Investec's internal risk rating process to ensure accurate risk assessment
  • Participate in recovery processes on an ad-hoc basis for clients in handover or legal action status
  • Perform client visits as necessary to gather additional information and maintain strong client relationships
