A multinational food manufacturing company is recruiting for a Legal Manager in their Johannesburg office.
The Legal Manager serves as legal advisor to the company on a wide range of matters related to the company’s business, including strategic initiatives, corporate governance, intellectual property, food law, regulatory and compliance issues, marketing approvals, employment law issues, review and negotiation of customer and commercial contracts and dispute management.

Summary:
As a Manager of Legal Services, you will play a pivotal role in achieving the company's business objectives through your expert legal support. You will work closely with various departments, providing guidance on strategic initiatives, corporate governance, regulatory compliance issues, employment law issues, food law, customer and commercial contracts, marketing approvals, and dispute management. Your ability to successfully navigate a matrix organisation will be crucial as you ensure effective compliance processes are in place to manage risk of breaches to South African law or company policies.
- Provide timely and commercially focused legal support including strategic initiatives, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance issues
- Ensure effective compliance processes are in place to manage risk of breaches to South African law or company policies
- Review and approve advice/support on media activity and marketing/food law issues
- Monitor and interpret the legislative environment in which the company operates
- Ensure that all contracts entered into by the company are of high quality and reviewed by a legal professional
- Protect the company’s intellectual property with the legal mechanisms available in the local market
Requirements:
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
- Minimum of 7 years' post-qualification experience
- Extensive FMCG industry experience
- Ability to deal with large volumes of complex issues
- Strong contract drafting ability
