Compliance Officer

Our client is a proudly South African, family-owned luxury jeweller with over 40 stores across South Africa and the UK. They are seeking a detail-driven and strategically minded Compliance Officer to lead governance and compliance across the Group.

This is a key appointment with strong growth potential for an individual who can translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions, ensuring full compliance while supporting and enabling commercial growth.

This role is crucial for ensuring the company's compliance with all regulatory requirements, and statutory obligations such as FICA, POPIA and OHSA. The Compliance Officer will:

  • Maintain and ensure continuous implementation the Group’s RMCP in line with FICA and regulatory guidance
  • Keeps business commercial interest at heart and ensures compliance doesn’t hinder commercial growth
  • Act as the main point of contact with regulators and relevant authorities
  • Keep the Legal Manager, COO and CEO updated on all compliance developments
  • Design, implement and maintain strong policies, procedures, and controls to minimize compliance risk
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to regulatory bodies
  • Ensure that accurate records are maintained
  • Provide training to staff to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring and advising on statutory and regulatory updates and reporting obligations
  • Evaluating and advising on internal controls

What we're looking for:

  • A University degree in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant compliance experience
  • Practical knowledge of FICA and POPIA
  • OHS experience advantageous or must be willing to learn
  • Strong business acumen and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to provide training to staff in-person or online
  • Experience in retail or FMCG sectors is advantageous
