Ethics & Compliance develops and manages the Ethics & Compliance program across the Group and promotes a culture of professionalism and integrity.

The role

The Ethics & Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing an effective E&C program, in alignment with the strategy and priorities from both local organization and the E&C function.

This includes ensuring adequate training and communication on E&C related standards and building capabilities to facilitate ethical decision making. Lead in developing, refining, and adapting standards related to E&C to meet evolving requirements; promote consistently high standards and operational excellence.

As a trusted business partner, the E&C Manager will strive to identify and manage risks impacting the local organization, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

The Ethics & Compliance Manager, will drive robust implementation of the E&C program through:

o Establishment and maintenance of effective E&C standard operating procedures, and controls:

  • Lead research into the relevant local and international laws and regulations to ensure company is operating in line with the latest developments and drive the effective implementation of internal standard operating procedures and controls.
  • Establish, maintain a system and process to manage the review, approval and update of internal ethics and compliance procedures in line with Mubadala Bio group E&C framework and local laws and regulations, and industry codes.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are effective and up to date on a consistent basis.

o Drive the implementation and roll out of a robust Risk Assessment and Management process:

  • Assess, manage and monitor risks arising from activities and projects ensuring compliance with local processes, rules and regulations, industry codes and corporate policies, guidelines, and build effective risk mitigations plans.
  • Active identification, evaluation and analysis of key ethics and compliance risks and emerging issues inherent to the company operations and review internal and external audit results to formulate and implement effective ethics and compliance mitigation measures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential compliance risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support the development and enhancement of risk management frameworks and related tools.
  • Lead and coordinate the execution of E&C investigations, in line with the client's standards and framework
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on risk exposure and ethics and compliance related status.

o Training and awareness:

  • Lead the development and implementation of local training program, raising awareness to local processes and group E&C policies and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain training plans and completion reporting mechanisms, ensuring up-to-date trainings are delivered to all employees.
  • Develop and implement communication initiatives for the Ethics and Compliance function encouraging an ethical and compliance driven culture.
  • Prepare functional reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet both Group and functional requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor or graduate-level degree in business/law, finance, audit, life science
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in progressive and more complex senior-level roles in ethics and compliance or regulatory-enforcement management.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of ethics and compliance practices and techniques, and ability to leverage leading practices to assist in developing and deploying an effective ethics and compliance program tailored to company needs.
  • Knowledge of local laws, regulations, and industry codes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate on ethics and compliance related matters, with various internal stakeholders at different organisational levels.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective compliance programs.
  • Professional level of English, French and Arabic, in both written and spoken
