This role offers an exciting opportunity to design, program and improve automated machine processes within a leading manufacturing company. The successful candidate will report directly to the Plant Manager and work closely with Production Managers to ensure an efficient and cost-effective operation. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on improving processes, increasing quality and flexibility in the manufacturing process. ~~ * Design automation systems & machine layouts * Manage CAPEX projects from initiation to handover * Identify manufacturing process bottlenecks & drive solution projects

What you'll do:

As a Factory Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, programming and improving automated machine processes. You will be responsible for managing CAPEX projects from initiation to handover, ensuring that all aspects of the project are handled efficiently. Your ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics will be key in this role. You will also be tasked with identifying bottlenecks in the manufacturing process and driving solution projects to address these issues. Your knowledge of electrical power systems and multiple energy sources will be essential in this role.

  • Designing automation systems and machine layouts in terms of OHS & ergonomics regulations.
  • Managing the automation aspect of assigned CAPEX projects from initiation to handover.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Programming and troubleshooting PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Identifying manufacturing process bottlenecks and driving solution projects.
  • Keeping up-to-date with different divisions, expertise and standards within automation.
  • Understanding electrical power systems (transformers, inverters, UPS’s) and multiple energy sources (generators, solar, grid power supply).
  • Applying principles of food manufacturing machines design.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Factory Automation Engineer position will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Automation or Process Control along with at least three years' experience in a similar role. You should have a strong understanding of maintenance principles as well as experience with motor sizing, specification & selection. Your ability to generate single line diagrams and circuit diagrams will be crucial in this role. A thorough understanding of electrical installation regulations & electrical machinery regulations (OHS Act) is required. Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA Systems CAD Software and HACCP is also essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/ Automation or Process control.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Factory Automation or similar role.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Understanding of maintenance principles.
  • Experience with motor sizing, specification & selection.
  • Ability to generate single line diagrams and circuit diagrams.
  • Understanding of electrical installation regulations & electrical machinery regulations (OHS Act).
  • Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA Systems CAD Software.
  • HACCP Experience.
