They are seeking a Professional Learning Manager, based in Uganda, to lead academic strategy, elevate instructional quality, and drive impactful teacher development initiatives across the country.

About the Role:

This is a senior academic leadership opportunity supporting a fast‑growing organisation that builds mobile-first, offline-capable digital tools for schools, NGOs, and government partners. The Professional Learning Manager will serve as the pedagogical lead, ensuring that professional learning programmes, instructional content, and implementation models are academically rigorous, contextually relevant, and aligned to national and international education standards.

You will oversee the design and continuous improvement of professional learning frameworks, contribute to product and strategy decisions, and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable teacher development initiatives throughout Uganda.

Scope of the Role:

  • Providing academic leadership to ensure instructional and professional learning excellence
  • Shaping and maintaining the organisation’s professional learning philosophy and frameworks
  • Leading programme design for teachers, school leaders, and education partners
  • Ensuring curriculum and standards alignment across content and implementation
  • Supporting large-scale deployment models across schools, NGOs, and government programmes
  • Collaborating with partnerships, product, and implementation teams to ensure strong pedagogy underpins all engagements
  • Defining and monitoring success metrics linked to teacher development, instructional fidelity, and learning outcomes

Key Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education (PhD highly preferred)
  • 15+ years’ experience in education, including programme design, curriculum development, and teacher professional learning
  • Senior leadership experience within education systems, NGOs, academic institutions, or large-scale education programmes
  • Demonstrated understanding of national curricula and international education standards
  • Strong background in teacher development, instructional coaching, and adult learning
  • Experience working in diverse and/or low‑resource education contexts
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior education stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with a passion for scalable educational impact
  • Comfortable operating in a technology‑driven environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead academic and pedagogical strategy across programmes
  • Develop and refine professional learning models and training pathways
  • Validate instructional content and ensure contextual best‑practice alignment
  • Support capacity‑building initiatives including training‑of‑trainers models
  • Guide quality assurance and continuous improvement processes
  • Work cross‑functionally with partnerships and implementation teams
  • Contribute to research, documentation, and external thought leadership

Personal Skills:

  • Strategic, analytical, and solutions‑oriented
  • Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Commitment to educational equity and teacher development
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Clear communicator with excellent facilitation skills

If you are passionate about strengthening teaching and learning outcomes across diverse education environments, and bring strong experience in instructional design, teacher development, and academic leadership, we encourage you to submit your application for consideration.
