The Community Development Lead will lead the implementation of the Community Conservation Strategy to achieve conservation objectives within a national park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Goma. The Community Development Lead will be responsible for overseeing all community- related project plans and the implementation thereof.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

• Oversee an inclusive and diverse community conservation team and provide
  capacity building and mentoring to team members as required
• Adaptive problem-solving for members to reflect and design effective field interventions that deliver biodiversity outcomes
• Maintain strong collaborative working relationships with the Program Manager, Park
  Director, and Deputy Park Director
• Provide substantive inputs to regular donor progress reports

Project Planning and Implementation

• Develop a revised community conservation strategy
• Oversee all community conservation activities, strengthen community institutions and build
  a strong constituency of community support for conservation initiatives.
• Ensure a rights-based community approach to conservation, including adherence to Free,
  Prior, Informed Consent principles

External Relationships

• Liaise and maintain productive relationships with partners on community
  development activities to harmonise approaches, avoid duplication of effort ensure these are
  linked to biodiversity outcomes
