Warehouse Manager (Retail)

A Retail of home improvement products and services company is seeking a senior, hands-on warehouse and supply chain leader to establish, manage, and continuously optimise end-to-end warehouse operations in South Africa. The ideal candidate will combine strong operational expertise, commercial acumen, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee end-to-end warehouse operations across South Africa, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

• Manage material flow, inventory control, and stock accuracy across all warehouse activities.

• Ensure timely processing, dispatch, and delivery of stock in line with service-level agreements.

• Maintain full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and local authority requirements.

• Oversee logistics operations, including coordination with transport providers and third-party partners.

• Liaise and negotiate with customers, suppliers, and service providers to ensure optimal commercial outcomes.

• Ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation and records within the distribution centre (DC).

• Allocate, manage, and optimise internal staff and outsourced workforce resources.

• Manage relationships with local government bodies and contractual employees.

• Maintain strong operational control, discipline, and engagement across permanent and outsourced warehouse teams.

• Address and resolve local operational and site-related issues impacting warehouse performance.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 8+ years’ experience across warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain, inventory, procurement, and materials management.

• Proven ability to manage warehouse P&L, working closely with the CFO or Head of Finance to drive cost efficiency and financial performance.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing both in-house teams and outsourced labour.

• Experience working with 3PL providers and the capability to manage both third-party and standalone warehouse operations.

• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and compliance management skills.
