They are seeking a Senior Government Affairs Specialist to lead engagement with government hospitals, procurement departments, the Department of Health, and Treasury in Gauteng

This is a high-impact role that combines strategic sales, relationship management, and sector intelligence, focused on driving growth and maximising opportunities within the public healthcare sector. You will collaborate with sales, technical, and management teams to ensure profitable business development, while staying ahead of tenders, legislation, and sector developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the public healthcare sector.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sector developments, tenders, and healthcare legislation.

  • Build and manage relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and decision-makers for timely, profitable engagement.

  • Collaborate with senior management, sales teams, and technical specialists to develop and execute strategic regional plans.

  • Drive sales growth, focusing on consumables and product portfolio expansion.

  • Monitor provincial supply chain policies and assess potential impact, developing mitigation strategies as needed.

  • Ensure all business opportunities are pursued ethically, compliantly, and professionally.

  • Achieve and exceed sales targets through proactive pipeline and account management.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 7–10 years in sales or business development, with at least 5 years in the public healthcare sector.

  • Education: Business or Health Sciences degree, or Marketing diploma.

  • Industry Knowledge: High level of surgical procedural knowledge; recognised courses in the medical device industry advantageous.

  • Skills:

    • Proven track record in sales, relationship development, and product demonstrations.

    • Strong understanding of medical disciplines beyond own area is a plus.

    • Excellent sales, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    • Strategic thinking with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    • Strong organisational, time management, and computer literacy skills.
