About Afreximbank: African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a Pan-African multilateral financial institution mandated to finance and promote intra-and extra-African trade. For 30 years, the Bank has been deploying innovative structures to deliver financing solutions that support the transformation of the structure of Africa’s trade, accelerating industrialization and intra-regional trade, thereby boosting economic expansion in Africa. A stalwart supporter of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), Afreximbank has launched a Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) that was adopted by the African Union (AU) as the payment and settlement platform to underpin the implementation of the AfCFTA. Working with the AfCFTA Secretariat and the AU, the Bank is setting up a US$10 billion Adjustment Fund to support countries to effectively participate in the AfCFTA. At the end of December 2023, Afreximbank’s total assets and guarantees stood at over US$37.3 billion, and its shareholder funds amounted to US$6.1 billion. The Bank disbursed more than US$104 billion between 2016 and 2023. Afreximbank has investment grade ratings assigned by GCR (international scale) (A), Moody’s (Baa1), Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) (A-) and Fitch (BBB). Afreximbank has evolved into a group entity comprising the Bank, its impact fund subsidiary called the Fund for Export Development Africa (FEDA), and its insurance management subsidiary, AfrexInsure, (together, “the Group”). The Bank is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt.
JOB PURPOSE T
rade Intelligence Solutions “TRIN” is an end-to-end strategic trade advisory and integrated intelligence offering of the African Export Import Bank (“Afreximbank” or “the Bank”). TRIN supports African clients that are seeking to enter new markets in Africa or foreign investors that are seeking to expand into the continent. TRIN also supports African clients in search of opportunities outside of the continent. TRIN comprises three distinct offerings organised across three sub-units: 1) Web-based platforms including TRADAR Intelligence and TRADAR Regulations combined to form part of “the TRADAR Club” proposition 2). Strategic Management Consulting Services to help clients tap into growth opportunities in the African continent and beyond and 3). The Unit is also responsible for the management of the Trade Information Hubs across all the upcoming Afreximbank African Trade Centres (AATCs). The Afreximbank TRADAR Club is a prestigious members-only club aimed at empowering international businesses and executives to transform trade and investment in Africa through trusted trade intelligence and advisory services. Members are global industry leaders, African and foreign businesses, intergovernmental organisations, policy makers and other influential stakeholders committed to the shared objective of unlocking growth and development in the African continent. The role requires a dynamic and results-driven Manager to lead and scale the TRADAR Club. The ideal candidate will be responsible for growing membership, enhancing engagement, and driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships, events, and trade facilitation services.
Key Responsibilities Main Responsibilities
• Membership Growth & Acquisition: Develop and execute a scalable strategy to attract high-value importers, exporters, and investors into the Club. Build relationshipswith key industry players, trade associations, and government agencies to expand the Club’s reach. Collaborate with the Bank’s origination teams to onboard relevant clients.
• Revenue Growth & Business Development: Take shared ownership of TRADAR Club’s P&L, driving revenue growth while optimizing costs. Monitor financial performance and develop strategies to improve monetization through premium memberships, sponsorships, partnerships, and other revenue streams. Work collaboratively with commercialization teams, marketing teams, and product teams to maximize ROI and achieve profitability targets.
• Member Engagement & Value Proposition: Design exclusive networking events, trade missions, and forums to facilitate connections and business deals. Provide members with market intelligence, trade insights, and advisory support to enhance their business operations in Africa. Manage the digital platform and community where members can interact and access trade resources.
• Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Development: Establish partnerships with Chambers of Commerce, Trade Associations, Embassies, and regulatory bodies to create value for members. Collaborate with logistics, legal, and compliance partners to support seamless cross-border trade. Represent the Bank at trade expos, summits, and industry events to promote the Club and drive membership uptake.
• Digital Solutions: Foster adoption of Afreximbank’s Digital Solutions by conducting regular system walkthroughs and demonstrations of the Bank’s digital platforms to drive uptake and revenue growth. Work with product development teams and vendors to manage enhancements/ improvements to the TRADAR Club digital platform.
• Financial Oversight: Set and monitor KPIs for membership growth, engagement, and revenue generation. Analyze trade trends and member activities to refine offerings and drive continuous improvement. Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure financial targets are met. Generate revenue growth by diversifying income streams, including trainings, events, and sponsorships. Prepare regular financial and operational reports for senior management.
• Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other tasks or duties as assigned by senior management, contributing to revenue growth and stakeholder satisfaction. Compliance Responsibilities
• Understand and adhere to the Bank's AML, Regulatory and Conduct Compliance policies and procedures, including:
- Staff Handbook (has code of conduct provisions)
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism and Counter Proliferation Financing
- Conflicts of Interest and Policies on Staff Involvement in External Engagements/Activities
- Anti-Bribery & Corruption
- Insider Trading Guidelines
• Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities or matters relating to the Bank’s staff or the customers to the Compliance Department.• Complete the Annual Compliance Training/Assessment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications Advanced university degree such Masters degree or MBA or equivalent from a recognized university in Business, International Trade, Finance, or a related field. Years & Nature of Experience
• Sound experience and proven track record of at least 8 years preferably in a trade facilitation role, business development or investment promotion activities at the Manager grade;
• Strong networking and relationship management skills, particularly with high-net-worth traders and investors.
• Experience in scaling a business, managing partnerships, and driving revenue growth.
• Deep understanding of African trade regulations, markets, and investment opportunities.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with teams in finance, marketing, and business development.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for delivering presentations, drafting reports, and engaging with high-level stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills – an analytical, innovative, and creative mindset skills;
• Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with digital trade solutions, CRM tools, and business process automation software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French. Knowledge of the Bank's other working languages is an added advantage (Arabic and Portuguese);
• Ability to be self-directed and be an independent contributor to the team. Technical Competencies
