Technical Product Owner

Overview One of the world’s leading withholding tax recovery companies is looking for a Technical Product Owner to join its growing technology team.

With 35 wholly owned offices across Europe, Asia, Africa, and America and a team of over 500 specialists, the organization focuses on assisting global clients with cross-border tax reclaims. Operating in the indirect tax industry for over 18 years, the company serves a wide range of institutional clients including banks, mining houses, and telecom and industrial businesses. Position Summary
We’re seeking a dynamic, energetic, innovative, strategic, and self-motivated individual to join the Johannesburg office. The ideal candidate will have a solid work ethic, work well under deadlines, collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, and adhere to departmental and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take lead of scrum teams, defining product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities while communicating with stakeholders throughout the project.

  • Work with internal and external contacts to analyze needs and align product roadmap with strategic goals.

  • Serve as the product ambassador internally and externally—providing knowledge, answering questions, and conducting demos, training sessions, and presentations.

  • Research feature requirements and technical specifications while managing the UX/UI process.

  • Conceptualize, develop, and take ownership of components of the technology product roadmap (e.g., Salesforce, Microservices).

  • Assess, manage, and prioritize the product backlog (using Jira).

  • Translate business requirements into a technical agenda for development and production deployment.

  • Manage internal and external development teams to ensure delivery of quality functionality on time.

  • Report on progress, risks, and bottlenecks to the technology steering committee.

  • Actively remove roadblocks to help the team meet sprint and release goals.

  • Run proofs of concept to demonstrate new tools or technologies.

  • Lead design sessions to evaluate technical solutions to business challenges.

  • Promote an Agile culture focused on continuous and rapid delivery of value.

  • Design and implement test plans and participate in user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Support deployed functionality and ensure smooth handovers to business teams.

  • Facilitate daily standups and manage sprint planning sessions.

  • Develop detailed product specifications that are clearly understood by development teams.

  • Prioritize epics, stories, and themes in line with the overall product strategy.

  • Assist in the rollout of new features and coordinate with various business and tech units.

  • Stay informed on emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies that could benefit the business.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field—or equivalent experience

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability in business process design and analysis

  • Ability to present the “big picture” and recommend improvements

  • Experience in designing or re-engineering business processes

  • Proven technology project management experience

  • Scrum/Agile training and practical experience (advantageous)

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, SaaS products, or low-code platforms (advantageous)

  • Working knowledge of IT systems, databases, and integration patterns (advantageous)

  • Experience configuring CRM/ERP systems—Salesforce experience is a strong plus
