Deputy Procurement Manager (Furniture Manufacturing)

A leading retailer of furniture is looking for a Deputy Procurement Manager to join their team in Accra. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing business growth efforts on behalf of the company.

Job responsibilities

  • Manage client relationships, identifying opportunities for new contracts.
  • Analyze data and create reports to identify areas of business growth.
  • Prepare financial status reports with respect to potential and actual budget and schedule impacts of risk, claims, disputes, and Contract changes.
  • Devise long-term development strategies for product categories.
  • Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
  • Responsible for placing orders to suppliers; Full cycle of Product delivery from the supplier’s factory to the Company Store.
  • Responsible for Coordination with Custom Agents; Freight forwarders; Importers; Custom Service and all other Import related agencies and authorities to ensure the best possible way of clearing the goods and delivery is achieved.
  • Responsible and accountable for overall commercial activities to deliver growth in accordance with company strategy;
  • Develop and maintain relations with vendor’s C-level managers, oversee purchasing contracts conclusion, negotiate on commercial conditions;
  • Develop and enhance assortment matrix in compliance with company policies. Ongoing SKU performance evaluation;
  • Oversee pricing strategy, identify and implement opportunities to increase margins, comply with company’s pricing policies;
  • Ongoing management and enhancement of procurement process within the country, as well as imports. Implement practices to improve purchasing effectiveness;
  • Confirm purchasing orders and identify risks to avoid overstocks, expirations. Forecast sales and realize cost-saving opportunities;
  • Procurement budget management;
  • Plan, direct and control payment process, approve vendor payments, forecast cash flow. Oversee reconciliation process.
