Financial Controller/ Manager

Lead and build the full finance function for a new Ghana operation within an international agricultural commodities trading business. This is a hands-on Finance Manager/Head of Finance role responsible for setting up and running the entire finance, treasury, reporting, compliance and control function for a new Ghana-based commodity trading operation.

Responsibilities

• Accounting & reporting: Manage accounting, month-end/year-end closing, financial statements, audits, and HQ reporting.
• Treasury & financing: Manage cash flow, international payments, FX exposure (GHS/USD), letters of credit, trade finance, and banking relationships.
• Financial control: Prepare budgets and forecasts, analyse profitability and margins by commodity/trading contract, and monitor performance.
• Tax & compliance: Ensure compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority requirements, VAT, corporate/income taxes, IFRS, and Bank of Ghana foreign-exchange regulations.
• Internal controls & team leadership: Establish robust financial controls and manage/develop the local accounting and administrative team.

Ideal candidate

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Finance, Accounting, Management, or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA, ICAG, MBA Finance).
• 5+ years’ relevant experience, ideally in commodity trading, international trading, or agri-food.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian tax regulations, Bank of Ghana rules, and IFRS.
• Experience with trade finance instruments such as LC/SBLC and Incoterms.
• Strong ERP, Excel, financial reporting and analytical skills.
• Fluent English
• Able to operate independently in a fast-paced, operational trading environment.
