As the Private Client Portfolio Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering bespoke portfolio management solutions and in-depth analysis across diverse asset classes. In this role, you will work directly with high-net-worth clients, crafting personalised investment strategies and providing performance insights that foster trust and long-term relationships.

This opportunity is perfect for someone passionate about investments and financial markets, with a proven ability to research companies, make informed investment decisions and communicate strategies effectively to clients.

Qualifications and experience required for the Private Client Portfolio Manager:

  • Completed Bachelors and Honours degree in relevant fiend is required (Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field)
  • Postgraduate qualifications such as CA(SA) or CFA designation are preferred
  • Proven experience in portfolio management and investment analysis
  • Strong understanding of global and local financial markets
  • Experience working with bespoke mandates or customised investment strategies
  • Familiarity with asset classes across equities, fixed income and real return solutions
  • Research capability with a background in valuations
  • Exceptional Excel skills are essential

Key duties of the Private Client Portfolio Manager:

  • Portfolio Management: Monitor bespoke mandates, review objectives and recommend strategic changes to the lead portfolio manager.
  • Client Reporting: Present performance updates and market insights to clients, ensuring transparency and trust.
  • Company Analysis: Source and value companies for inclusion in portfolios, aligning recommendations with client goals and market trends.
  • Advisor Support: Respond promptly to advisor queries across asset classes, collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Market Expertise: Provide detailed answers to market-related questions, leveraging knowledge of stocks and portfolio transitions.
  • Portfolio Transitions: Assist in transitioning client portfolios using systems like Bloomberg and Excel.
  • Clear Communication: Simplify complex financial information for clients and advisors to foster understanding and confidence.
  • Team Collaboration: Support the asset management team by addressing investment-related queries and contributing innovative ideas for portfolio strategies.
