Key Responsibilities

As an HR Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless HR operations across the organization. Your responsibilities will include:

Recruitment & Selection

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising vacancies, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and onboarding new hires.
  • Utilize online recruitment platforms (e.g. PNet, LinkedIn) and background check systems (e.g. MIE, Lexis Nexis).
  • Prepare contracts of employment and starter packs for new employees.

Payroll Administration

  • Capture employee information and maintain accurate records on the SAGE 300 People system.
  • Ensure all employee documentation is uploaded and updated on the system.
  • Create new posts and manage personnel data efficiently.

HR Administration

  • Draft promotion, increase, job title, and grade change letters.
  • Maintain employee files and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Assist with Employment Equity reporting and other statutory submissions.

Training & Development

  • Actively participate in the Employment Equity and Training Committee.
  • Facilitate training initiatives to support employee growth and development.

Industrial Relations

  • Provide guidance on disciplinary hearings, grievances, and appeal processes.
  • Represent the company at CCMA when required.
  • Ensure adherence to IR policies while maintaining professionalism.

Employee Benefits Management

  • Administer medical aid registrations and retirement fund withdrawals.
  • Address queries related to benefits promptly and accurately.

Qualifications & Experience

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Education: B Degree or National Diploma in Human Resources.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of full HR generalist experience, including Industrial Relations (IR).
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in SAGE 300 People system (essential).
    • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills.
    • Strong interview techniques and administrative capabilities.
    • Knowledge of job grading principles.
