Commercial Manager
A leading oil and gas exploration and production company is seeking a senior commercial leader responsible for driving commercial value creation, strategic planning, economic analysis, financial modelling, transaction support, and corporate performance management across the oil & gas value chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support commercial transactions and negotiations across partners, contractors, regulators, government agencies, financiers, and counterparties.
- Develop and maintain economic and financial models for assets, projects, transactions, acquisitions, divestments, and new business opportunities.
- Provide commercial input into M&A, acquisitions, divestments, bids, and new business development.
- Integrate technical, financial, fiscal, tax, regulatory, and market intelligence into commercial decisions and deal structures.
- Negotiate and support commercial agreements including crude sales/handling/transportation, gas sales, metering, shipping, and tank lease agreements.
- Lead commercial risk assessments and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
- Support government/regulatory engagements, audits, and fiscal reconciliations covering royalties, taxes, and levies.
- Contribute to corporate strategy, annual budgets, long-term business plans, performance management, and investor relations.
- Monitor changes in oil & gas fiscal regimes, regulations, macroeconomic conditions, competitors, and market dynamics.
Requirements:
- 12+ years of relevant oil & gas experience.
- Must come from an Exploration & Production (E&P) company, ideally a mid-sized E&P operator.
- At least 3 years in a comparable senior commercial role within an E&P company.
- Proven track record of leading commercial transactions and negotiations within cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas operations and fiscal regimes.
- Strong financial, commercial, analytical, and economic modelling capability.
- Experience with M&A, asset transactions, commercial agreements, business development, and deal economics.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, risk management, and leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline; MBA/Master’s preferred or required
